Sonia Grineva
Sonia Grineva was born in Moscow, Russia and received her B.A. and M.F.A. degrees from the Stroganov Art Institute. Founded in 1825, the Stroganov Institute is widely considered to be Moscow’s leading art school, famous for its professors, among others Vassily Kandinsky, Kasimir Malevich, and Alexander Rodchenko.
After coming to the United States at the age of 20, she studied at the National Academy of Design in Manhattan, and was a awarded a coveted scholarship to Italy, completing a course of study at the British Institute in Florence.
Sonia travels extensively, and works on location in the tradition of ‘plein-air’ artists. This is her first Santa Fe exhibition.
