The GirlSMART literacy program consists of several research-based components that support an effective literacy program: phonemic awareness, phonics, read alouds (including vocabulary development and Qualities of Strong, Smart and Bold.), guided reading and other eyes of the page activities. Research conducted by the National Reading Panel as well as the Science of Reading has shaped the program components. Below you will find resources and activities for each of these components.
